Ownership of these lyrics
Except for those songs labeled as "Traditional" these songs belong to me. They are my property and I own them. You may print out a copy for each member of your family who wants to sing along. But you may not hand them out at the mall, sing them in a public place, record them on any media and sell or give them away or any other means of distribution. Some people think that it's ok if you don't make money on it. Suppose you stole a car and gave it to a stranger or a friend. You wouldn't be making any money on it but IT WOULD STILL BE STEALING! If you don't want to be a thief then don't rip me off. In the case of those traditional songs, they belong to all of us so help your self.Thank you
Give me that old time country music
Sing the blues sad and love sick
Scratchy records I don't care
There's no music can compare
Chorus
Hank Snow was always Movin' On And Earnest walked the floor till dawn Eddie Arnold sent a rose George Morgan's only star still glows.
Chorus
Those days are gone forever
Chorus
So DON'T PLAY "THE TENNESSEE WALTZ" for me
A few weeks ago we chanced to meet
Although I was wary I soon understood
So play "The Tennessee Waltz" for us
Debris the size of cars flies through the air
A hundred jet planes roar out of the sky
Some folks calmly kneel and say a prayer
The stinging wind brings tears to every eye
The bleachers groan and sway
Then all is swept away
In the twister.
Next morning when the news vans arrive
Few people are alive
To tell how they survived.
There are songs about lovers
And songs about bears
Songs about heroes
And the deeds they dared
More outlaws and cowboys
Than you can count
But nobody writes songs about teachers.
They're underpaid and over worked
Some wonder why teachers put up with it all
They battle with fifty screaming kids
Who can get so high they're climbing the wall
If someone is sent to the principle's desk
The parents are likely to side with the child.
On those days when homework is due
Their excuses would drive a sane person wild.
Chorus
If it's so bad why is it true
That people are willing to spend their time
Working for low pay in such a plight
That others would sue and call it a crime?
The rewards teachers get are worth more then gold
When the child understands and the look on that young face
Can bring tears to the eyes of a thirty year vet.
That's why those men and women stay in the chase.
Chorus
THE GREAT BEAR
Ruler of the northern sky
She never sleeps or takes a rest
And not one thing escapes her eye.
The archer's arrows have no sting
The hunting dogs remain at bay
She does not fear Orion's sword
They all leave the sky for half the day.
Chorus
As I walked off the dance floor
Time
Causes sleeping seeds to grow.
The passing time
Carves the land where rivers flow,
Time
Dries the tears in sorrow's eyes,
And time
Brings a love that never dies.
Life
Makes a flower seek the sun,
The force of life
Drives the salmon run,
Life
Is for each of us to share,
And life
Is a gift beyond compare.
Love
Means there's no need to explain,
Someone's love
Takes away the lonely pain,
Love
Is a promise shared by two,
And love
Brings young life to start anew.
I thought about that sign back there
And wondered why I aught to care
How far away that river was from here.
I drove on through the dark and rain
I smiled and chuckled once again
And figured that old river must be near.
Another sign seemed to repeat
Saying "River eight hundred feet"
I was still laughing when I topped the ridge.
To my surprise the headlights showed
A short way down this two lane road
The river all right but there was no bridge.
